Elias Haslanger approached me about creating a "Blue Note" style cover for his "Church on Monday" record, and I had a blast channeling my inner Reid Miles for this one.
We went all the way with the Blue Note treatment.
Elias actually pressed this release on vinyl. It was quite an honor laying this one onto my platter and watching my label design spin on the turntable.
This is the original Cherrywood Records logo design, before I removed the bark. Whereas some logo designs take me weeks or months to discover, this one took minutes. In addition to woodcut/vinyl reference, the off-angled type and logo mark are meant to represent a musical instrument.
